Atiba Jefferson is the quintessential skateboard success story. It goes something like this:
Atiba, his twin brother, and their sister were raised by their mother in the small town of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Colorado Springs. There were food stamps and government assistance.
He started shooting photos of his friends in high school while taking a photography class. After graduation, Atiba flew to California. It was his first time on an airplane. He was on his way to work at a 7-11 store when Grant Britain offered him an assistant job at Transworld.
Fast forward years later and Atiba’s ambition, hard work, and love for his craft have made him one of the most respected and talented photographers in skateboarding and beyond, shooting legends from Prod and Koston to Lebron and Jordan. Outside photography he is a serial entrepreneur with a number of successes; founding and partnering in the Skateboard Mag, Saint Archer Brewery, a bar called Black, the backpack company Bravo, and ABC Hat Co.
Congratulations, Atiba. You deserve it all.
Below Atiba shows us some of his favorite photos he has taken over the years.
